Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This is a draft written to accurately describe what Stride actually does with your data. It is not legal advice — have a lawyer review it (particularly the data-retention, sub-processor, and governing-law sections) before you rely on it in production. Replace every bracketed [placeholder] before publishing.

Who we are

Stride is a personal productivity app made by [insert company/individual name]. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Stride, why, and what control you have over it. Contact us at [insert contact email] with any questions.

What we collect

  • Account information: your email address, a username, and an encrypted password (we never see or store your password in plain text — it's handled by our authentication provider).
  • The content you create: pages, tasks, notes, habits, journal entries, financial entries, and every other block of content you add to Stride. This is the core of what the app stores on your behalf.
  • Messages and collaboration data: direct messages, group chats, page comments, and file attachments you send through Stride's messenger, along with who you've friended, which groups you're in, and which pages you've shared and with whom.
  • Profile information: a display name and, if you choose to add one, a profile picture.
  • Billing information: we know whether you have an active subscription and its status. We do not collect or store your card details — those are handled entirely by our payment processor (see below).
  • Technical information: basic operational data needed to keep the app working, like when your data last synced.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't run advertising, and we don't share your content or messages with third parties for marketing purposes. There is no analytics or tracking SDK collecting your behavior inside the app beyond what's described here.

How your data is stored

Stride is local-first: your content is cached on your own device so the app works offline, and syncs in the background to our cloud database when you're connected. Our infrastructure is provided by Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and, for payments, Stripe. Both are sub-processors that store and process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments.

Data in our database is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure provider. Messages, notes, and other content are not end-to-end encrypted — this means it's technically possible for us, or our infrastructure provider, to access content stored on our servers (for example, to investigate abuse or comply with a legal request). We restrict access internally and rely on strict database-level access controls so that other users can only ever see data you've explicitly shared with them.

Who can see your data

By default, only you can see your own pages and content. Content becomes visible to others only when you explicitly share a page, message someone directly, join a group chat, or comment on a shared page. Access is enforced at the database level, not just hidden in the app's interface.

Your controls

  • You can reset all of your data back to a fresh account at any time from Settings.
  • You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings — this also cancels any active subscription.
  • You can remove friends, leave groups, and revoke page sharing at any time.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your data immediately, except where we're required to retain limited records (such as billing history) for legal or accounting purposes.

Children's privacy

Stride is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under that age.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in-app or by email before they take effect.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
